Spring brings with it energy and excitement like no other season. Cold temperatures and overcast gray give way to sunshine and blue skies. Trees begin to bud, flowers start to show their blossoms, and a scent of new beginnings fills the air. With springtime comes the desire to get outside and be free from the chills of a long cold winter of cabin fever.

Spring not only brings with it great opportunities help clients look and feel their best, but also a chance to boost business while fulfilling your client driven purpose. By helping clients prepare their skin and bodies for summer fun you can also help your practice grow by expanding service offerings to existing clients and acquiring new clients through focused springtime prep and summer ready marketing campaigns.

Creating a Summer Ready Skin, Body, and Mind

Summer brings about a shift in weather, humidity levels, and outdoor activities. All of which impact our skin and influence our overall well-being. To embrace the season and radiate confidence from head to toe, here are some top tips to prepare your clients for a summer-ready mindset.

Sun Protection Ritual

The need to protect our skin from the sun’s beautiful, yet harmful rays is never ending. As a provider of health and wellness services, it is our responsibility and obligation to educate our clients on the harmful effects of the sun’s ultraviolet rays. While the sun’s rays are good for the spirit and beneficial to the body (think vitamin D), they are harmful to the skin in many ways. Besides the well-known cancer risks that are presented by UV rays, premature aging of the skin is even more prevalent.

Exposure to the sun’s rays can cause the skin to become thickened and leather-like, wrinkled, or even thinned. In short, the more sun exposure we have, the more accelerated the aging process. Hence the need to educate our clients and provide them with the best advice and guidance possible.

Advances in skincare products allow for us to not only protect skin against sun damage but repair it at the same time. The latest sunscreen technology incorporates minerals that not only protect against UVA and UVB rays, but also addresses the need to protect against HEV (blue light). Many newer sunscreens also include antioxidants to protect skin against the damaging effects of free radicals and repair signs of photoaging.

Advise your clients at every visit to incorporate broad-spectrum sunscreen into their daily routine and reapply as needed. Emphasize the significance of protecting not just the face but also often neglected areas like the neck, décolleté, back, and ears.

Hydration is Key
Encourage your clients to stay hydrated inside and out. Sipping water throughout the day helps maintain skin moisture and suppleness.  Hydrating skincare products can also enhance the effects of good hydration by supporting the skin’s natural barrier function. For an extra boost, recommend treatments infused with hydrating ingredients, such as IV hydration therapy, to quench thirsty skin.

Exfoliate and Glow
Coach your clients to prepare their skin for summer by exfoliating regularly to slough off dead skin cells and reveal a radiant complexion. Ask them to consider incorporating gentle exfoliation treatments into their regular skincare regimen. When doing facial treatments, encourage them to add-on the décolletage.

Incorporating Seasonal Treatments like "Backcials”
To enhance your client’s summer experience and drive new treatment offerings, consider introducing specialty back facials known as "backcials." The back is often an area of concern that can lead to lower self-confidence. Give your clients the confidence they deserve with clearer back skin.  These pampering treatments focus on cleansing, exfoliating, and hydrating the skin on the back, targeting concerns like acne, dryness, or uneven texture. Here's how you can incorporate "backcials" into your summer service menu.

Personalized Approach
Tailor each facial or back facial to address individual skin concerns and goals. Whether it's targeting sun damage, enhancing hydration, or improving skin tone, customize the treatment to meet the unique needs of your clients and ensure optimal results.

Summer-Ready Packages
Drive interest and engagement by offering special summer-ready packages that combine facials and back facials with other seasonal treatments, like body scrubs or hydrating masks. Create a holistic experience that promotes relaxation, rejuvenation, and glowing skin from head to toe.

By embracing a summer skin and body mindset and incorporating specialized treatments like back facials, you can empower your clients to radiate confidence, feel pampered, and embrace the season with a renewed sense of beauty and wellness.
