Everyone can achieve great things. Everyone has goals for their life and business. No two are the same but the objective is shared. We all want to live our version of success. This is where the realization of the dream begins. What someone else thinks your dream should be does not matter. It’s your dream not theirs. That said, it is important to make sure your dream is yours and not influenced by social pressure. Otherwise, the dream will never become yours because it wasn’t yours in the first place. By recognizing your dream is yours and not someone else’s you can attack it with passion and purpose.
Living the life we desire and dream of begins with a decision. The same is true for business. Having the practice we dreamed of when we started begins with a decision and believing. A decision to become who we need to be to be the best at whatever it is we decide to pursue. A belief that we can succeed. However, we must do more than merely believe. Believers who also work hard, stay the course, and give it all they have are the true achievers.
Believers that achieve know that they must continuously develop themselves, stay accountable, and understand that if they are to move to the next level, they cannot merely do what they did yesterday. They must elevate themselves and break through the ceiling.
Believers that achieve embrace the idea that if they aren’t growing, they are dying. They believe the same for their practice. If business is not growing it is dying. Growth in business is not simply making a few dollars more month-over-month or year-over-year. Real growth in business, like life, must be exponential. It must push us, stretch us, and force us out of our comfort zone. It must lift us to achieve beyond our wildest dreams - more than what we ever thought possible. It must be about more than money.
To realize this type of growth we need to first recognize and express gratitude for all we have and how far we’ve come. We must then set our vision on a greater future and work to bring that ideal to life through hard work, discipline, and being exactly who we need to be to achieve that goal. Who you are today will not get you to where you want to be tomorrow.
We must make a commitment to grow daily and be willing to sacrifice pleasure for opportunity. We must also look back and recognize how blessed we’ve been. There are many blessings that were bestowed upon us to place us in a position to even have the opportunity to make our dream reality. We must always be grateful for those blessings. They made us who we are and serve as the foundation for who we and our business are about to become.
Developing a grateful heart is not easy. If it were, everyone would be happy, peaceful, and filled with sincere gratitude. We know this is not the case. There are many “successful” people who are miserable. That is not the tradeoff we desire nor is it necessary. Success, happiness, and fulfillment can be the case for you and your practice. All you must do is decide and see it though, no matter how difficult it may be. If you do, the reward will be the realization of the vision you have for yourself, your team, and your practice.
